KATE
KENNEDY, the creator of Goode & Plenty
In
1975, I attended Parsons School of Design majoring in painting
and received my BFA in 1979.
I
worked as an exhibiting artist from 1979-1990, exhibiting
paintings in solo & group shows in NYC and the United
States receiving great critical reviews. (Artforum, Artnews,
Art in America, Flash Art, NY Times.)
In
1985, I created a cutting edge "Learning through Art"
curriculum for toddlers and founded "Little Darlings
Academy,"
the program was featured in the New York Times as one of the
best early childhood educational programs available in the
city.
I began to write treatments for t.v. shows teaching parents
interactive skills to promote the learning through art program
at home.
In
1991, I founded "Art-in-Orbit" inc., a small manufacturing
company creating innovative items for kids and adults, featuring
the cult classic "Glow Dog."
By
1995, I decided to pursue my long time interest in film and
art direction and have been actively working ever since as
a set decorator, designer and art director on films, t.v.
shows, commercials and music videos.
Three
years ago, my passion for "good design" inspired
me to open "Goode & Plenty," a retail venue
located in the rural scenic Delaware river valley located
in the foothills of the Catskill mountains in New York State.
The shop offers the community a unique shopping venue that
is fun, educational and entertaining by showcasing uniquely
designed, environmentally conscious products that are both
functional and humorous. It also helps that my favorite game
to play as a child was "store" in which my wonderful
and patient mother was always my best customer!
Through
"Goode & Plenty" I am offering my vast experience
as a Designer and Decorator in the Film Industry to Residential
Clients as well.
